Majors PTI™

The Majors Personality Type Inventory™ (PTI™) is an instrument designed to help your clients learn valuable information about how they direct their energy, take in information, make decisions, and how they orient themselves to their environment. The result is the popular 4-letter personality type code that is based on Jungian Type Theory (16 Personality Types) and is used by organizations worldwide (see below).

Personality type theory can help you understand why some situations are enjoyable and energizing, while others are uncomfortable and draining. Developed by Dr. Mark Majors, the Majors PTI™ is intended to help you in the process of self-understanding and continued personal and professional growth.

The Majors PTI™ is a shorter, less expensive alternative to other Jungian Type instruments and is more accurate. Unlike the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® instrument, the PTI™ does not use a forced choice format for item responses. Instead, the PTI™ uses levels of similarity to provide clarity of results and increased precision.

Business Applications

The Majors PTI™ can be used for the business applications listed below. In addition, data from the PTI™ can be mapped to the results of the Breckenridge Culture Indicator™ (BCI™) to: a) establish the “fit” of key players within an organization’s culture, and b) quantitatively assess the distribution of an organization’s leadership and management bench strength.

Training Program

The Breckenridge Institute will either administer the Majors PTI™ for you, or we'll train you to use it in your organization, or with your clients.

The Majors PTI™ requires training to administer professionally. People who have a degree in psychology or counseling, and have had psychometric coursework are qualified to use the PTI™. People who have been trained to use the MBTI® instrument, Majors PT-Elements™, Golden™ Personality Type Profiler, or other instruments where the coursework included training in psychometrics and test interpretation can also use the PTI™.

All other people must complete the Majors PTI™ training program in order to administer the PTI™ professionally. The PTI™ training program combines the convenience of a self-paced web-based learning environment, with one-on-one instruction and mentoring sessions by telephone. The on-line PTI™ training program includes:

• Interactive web-based modules that cover the history, theory, report structure, APA standards, and the key elements of how to interpret the PTI™.
  
  
• Two one-on-one telephone mentoring sessions that are focused on how to administer the instrument, interpret the results, and help others verify their personality type.
  
  
• Complete the PTI™ and review your results with your instructor.
  
  
• Have one colleague complete the PTI™ and work with your instructor to prepare their feedback session.
  
  
• Complete an on-line exam composed of multiple choice and true-false questions.
  
  
• On-going access to the Breckenridge Institute® continuing education program and supporting materials.

Completion of the training program will give you access to administering the PTI™ 24X7 anywhere in the world where you have an Internet connection.
